I've always been intrigued by the possibility of unconventional use of my webcam. Honestly since I bought almost a year ago, I used up to 3 or 4 occasions. So, I thought that maybe she should use the webcam for a different use from video and because I often stay away from my desktop that stays on even in my absence, is not entirely wrong idea of video surveillance . Of course, with Linux you can do everything, even the unthinkable ... just a bit 'of time and a bit' of experience and you're done. Today we talk of Motion , software capable of detecting movements in a video source (such as a webcam ) and director in video files and images. ... Continue reading

Remote Access to Linux desktop with SSL encryption: x11vnc + SSVNC client

In the latest versions of GNOME desktop software is available that allows remote access to desktop with a simple client VNC from any other operating system. I'm talking about WINE. Although it is easy to configure, it does not provide a sufficiently strong data encryption. In fact, we may be subject (for technical reasons that I am not here to explain) to attack man-in-the-middle. For this reason I decided to show the configuration of another VNC server and a VNC client slightly more advanced: x11vnc (server) and SSVNC (client). All mixed up with an SSL tunnel that gives us away from any prying eyes! Continue reading ...

Purists distributions completely Free Software Compliant "do not like much the Flash plugin from Adobe distributed through non-source distribution and, therefore, an open source license at least. It is no coincidence that there are many Linux distributions do not install the default plugin Adobe house. On Debian and Ubuntu you can manually install the Flash plug-in version 9, which, not surprisingly, is distributed as software package called "flashplugin-nonfree". However, to date, it is almost impossible to do without this software and that's why I show you how to install the latest version pre-release of Flash 10 . ... Continue reading

P2P secure: Enable filtering IP aMule 2.2.1

When you use software for exchanging files over the Internet, just like aMule , should be avoided to make connections to the computer that counts, for example, public bodies. In fact, it often happens that, unbeknownst to us, the computer on the Internet to which our software peer-to-peer connects to send or receive files is controlled or controllable. Even in some cases there are real spy servers that control the files that we are sharing and are ready to store our activities in the sphere of exchange files. It is not very long standing news ignition of some dedicated servers for emule, precisely, the logging activities of unwitting sharers of files. Continue reading ...

[Link] KO.Lo throw hard drive ... but what can I do to avoid data recovery? This is the safest method

When a hard drive stops working, the only alternative we have is to throw the failed disk and buy a new one (obviously if we are out of warranty). The problem is that even if the disk does not work, maybe because the dishes do not run more or head has stopped or is damaged, the data contained on the plates remain where they are. The logical consequence is that it is difficult to recover all data when they have the right tools. Arises, therefore, a problem: how can I prevent someone from accessing information on the disk that I want to throw away?

The solution is not really affordable for anyone ... but here : D
